Newtonmore Grill
About This Spot
Newtonmore Grill sits quietly just off the old Perth Road, its unassuming exterior a gentle invitation rather than a bold claim. Step inside, and you find yourself in a space where the day’s pace slows naturally, like a familiar pause on a long road trip. It’s the kind of place where the hum of everyday life blends seamlessly with warm chatter and the occasional clink of cutlery, giving the room an honest, lived-in feel.
This spot has long been a crossroads for locals and travelers alike — a welcoming pit stop where the menu feels like a collection of comforting essentials rather than culinary extravagance. The breakfasts here carry a quietly reassuring heft, whether it’s the classic English plate or a humble egg roll; each dish serves as a gentle reminder of home, simplicity, and satisfaction.
As the afternoon unfolds, hearty meals anchored by meat pies, burgers, and stews invite you to linger, filling the room with the familiar aroma of slow-cooked comfort. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, with staff who bring a steady kindness that outshines any rush or fuss. No flashy trimmings, just honest food and genuine smiles.
Visitors often note the welcoming, no-frills nature of Newtonmore Grill — a place where the pace is unhurried, the portions generous, and the warmth not just in the plates but in the people. Here, even on colder mornings, there’s an understated warmth in finding a seat, sharing a meal, and feeling a quiet connection with others passing through or settling in for a regular visit.
Perfect for early risers craving a filling start, or passersby seeking a simple, reliable meal, Newtonmore Grill retains a timeless quality — part roadside refuge, part neighborhood cornerstone — where every visit feels like a small but meaningful moment discovered along the way.

We had breakfast here in -7 degrees. The English breakfast was so good but there was some delay due to less staff. The restaurant was a bit cold but overall it's nice.

The most nostalgic, heart warming, lovely little pit stop that I always look forward to visiting. Been going here since birth, and is always a treat for my family and I to stop in for a quick pot of tea, a filling lunch and sometimes a wee milkshake. The menu is simple and effective serving pies, pizzas, burgers and breakfasts. The staff are always friendly and the tables are always clean. I love this place and will always hold it close in my heart. Thank you for all the amazing meals over the years and I’m looking forward to my next visit! Cheers :)

Friendly staff, affordable hearty food - you can't go wrong! No frills exterior reminded me somewhat of the trucker stops along highways in the US and Canada. We stopped by for dinner on our way to a campsite, the menu has many different meals for adults and kids, the establishment is also dog-friendly and they were happy to cook a couple of sausages for our dog. We had the beef pie and mash and lasagne and chips along with dessert: jam sponge and custard and chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. All delicious, home cooked feeling. We ordered a haggis pizza to take back to our campsite and that too was awesome! Highly recommend.

Food cooked to order and reasonably priced. £25 HGV parking with £5 food voucher. Some pints on draught. Limiter HGV parking currently but I belive they're expanding next year so get here early as you can.

Look, this is a truckers' diner just off the motorway. If you're expecting something posh, this is not it. However, if you adjust your expectations accordingly, I think you'll like it. We initially stopped by just to get some snacks but decided to have lunch instead when we saw their menu. The prices were good, the portions were large and it was surprisingly tasty. Staff were friendly and we left happy, so I would definitely recommend this place for a no-frills, good lunch.

Ran in quickly on a long drive and we're so pleased we did. The staff could not have been more lovely and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend bypassing Aviemore for fuel and food. And instead take the small detour to Newtonmore for Esso and the grill!

It is my first time visiting this side of the UK, and we stopped here. The service and food are delicious. Recommended place to stop by.

Clean and friendly, fabulous food, reasonably priced. Made to feel very welcome (Inc our dog). The 3 of us had different meals and all were served in a timely fashion, no excessive waiting, despite it being busy and good sized portions. I definitely recommend this place and would have revisited on our return journey if we'd have travelled that way.
